I have been going to Gary for at least eight years.  He has great integrity and if he tells you something is wrong with your car, it is.  I have never left his shop without my car working perfectly, and if there is a problem he always works on it until he figures it out.  He also figures out solutions that are cost-effective and keep the car running beautifully over time--my Mercedes is a terrific example of this.  I always feel that he really cares about me and my safety, and takes his work very seriously in that respect--he's got the big picture in mind.  I respect how busy he is and the extraordinary quality of his work, and am grateful for our long and excellent relationship.

A coworker recommend I stop by Gary's place to get a radiator leak fixed last winter. My coworker warned me about his attitude and he was right, the guy definitely needs to work on the way he talks to his customers.

He and his son spent a whole day on my car and said the leak was fixed. I ended up dropping $160 on the parts and labor. Not a bad price for a BMW considering the dealership would have charged me a lot more.

However, a month after the work was done, the radiator fluid light came on again. I came back to Bethlehem and told Gary there was a leak again. He told me he'd top off my reservoir but that I'd have to pay more to fix this again. When I told him I already paid $160 to get this fixed, he got defensive and said that I paid $160 to replace the hose only, now he needs to replace the whole thing.

Overall, I'm not impressed. Being busy gives no excuse for a mechanic to treat his customers that way. I definitely won't be coming back.

Gary is a car owner's dream and if cars could talk, they'd love him too.

Aside from being an OUTSTANDING mechanic, he's accommodating, fast, honest and incredibly reasonable with his prices.

More importantly, he's always available for when I'm in a bind.

I have been going to Gary for a while, and I have to say a few things.  First of all, he is in fact a great mechanic, he is honest, and will do work for a good price.  That can't be denied.

Unfortunately, his attitude and demeanor has few major downsides.  First of all if you just need to have something checked, he gets very angry since he doesnt get paid if nothing is wrong.  "Don't bring it in if you aren't ready to have something done" was the response I got when my brakes were fine.

Second of all, if you aren't as knowledgeable as you should be, he gets angry.  I spent 20 minutes listening to him bitch me out about a radiator I didn't know about.  Totally unacceptable for a guy working for you.

All in all I would compare him to a crazy significant other.  He is super nice at first, will even come out to you if you are close, but after a few times there, he shows his true colors and then watch out.

Gary is the best mechanic I have ever had the pleasure of working with.  Many times, as a woman, mechanics treat you as if you don't know what you're talking about or that you aren't interested in learning.  Gary not only explains in detail what he is doing and why, he shows you so you can learn as well.  And he gives a very fair price.  As long as I live in LA, I will only bring my car to Gary.  I recommend him to my friends and to everyone who reads this review.

Gary and his son are the best!  I've taken both my old car and new(er) one to him.  Always efficient, great service, great value.  Amazingly knowledgeable!

I'm relatively new to the shop, but based on the rave reviews of my co-workers, I gave Gary a shot last year. I was totally impressed with his quality of service. He's a great mechanic. He was also responsive, fast and, hell, his shop's directly across the street from my office (a major perk).

He also provides sage car purchasing advice. Seriously, this guy is so awesome I have a bit of a man crush on him. I may ask him to be the best man at my wedding should that day ever come.

I have had so many bad experiences with mechanics in LA taking advantage of me and my VW.  I reached a point in car-ownership where I would expect sub-par service & redic pricing .  Having grown up here one would think that between my parents, sister, brother, and friends- we would have found a fair mechanic who does great work.  Well we hadn't, until NOW!   Gary at Bethlehem is sensational, incredibly professional, and came in WAY below the other quotes that I got from other mechanics.  I was referred to him by a co-worker who swore up and down he would get the job done at an amazing price and not exploit me because of my car ignorance.  He explained every step he was taking, so that I could be educated in what he was doing to my car and make decisions on how much I could afford right away vs what I could wait to have done later.

I told my dad (audi-owner) about Gary and he now uses him too! My dad, who thinks he knows everything about cars, told me that Gary was a gem and a rarity, an honest man with an honest business in a total scam industry.  I wanted to spread the good word about Gary and I promise you, you won't be disappointed!  Especially if you have a tight budget and need him to do only what is necessary.  He will get your car running for longer than you thought possible and will make sure you walk away happy.

I never thought I would write a review for a mechanic, but this one is completely warranted.  He is the best mechanic in LA!  Hands-down!

If you care about your automobile, and you want a mechanic that knows what he is doing, Bethlehem Motors is the place for you. I have been going there for years and I have introduced several others to the company. Gary the owner/principal mechanic treats you with respect and when you leave, your car is fixed. When the warranty expires on your exotic foreign car, this is a fantastic place to bring it. I've brought BMWs, Mercedes, I can't recommend Gary highly enough.
